AtTrack’s IoT Powerful Web Management Software Platform is designed to be fast and efficient. Starting from when you first open the front-end portal you’re presented with a basic HTML/JS with few external library dependencies. By leveraging modern HTML5, CSS practice we can vastly simplify the code base – this makes page load time extremely lean and work well over less-than-ideal connections. For example, writing with map tiles is less than 1mb including all library and images with only a few kb of changes after local browser caching. Next, you’re presented with fast UI navigation with most actions taking fewer than 3 clicks. Plus, you won’t find any unnecessary animations (often part of many platforms) that slow you down. Instead of flash you’re presented with a minimalist approach that’s aim is getting you to the data you’re looking for, in as few clicks as possible.

Data Visualization

AtTrack offers you with integrated mapping and charting, plus advanced data and status relating to GPS and attached sensors. Quick & easy view of battery charge status and strength of cellular signal. Plus, custom filtering of data using time/date or transport/DVR like controls allowing you to scroll-thru time to quickly display the data you’re looking for.

Leveraging the on device storage when data limitations are an issue allows the remote device to store and resend alerts or scheduled data later when coverage improves. The ST-1 device stores GPS and sensor based records, and this device storage allows eventual data convergence when the device is in a cell coverage area that is intermittent. For example, if a truck was to drive into a remote highway with a tracker onboard where a carrier does not cover. The device will store GPS or sensor records to internal memory as well as process any alarm actions. When the device re-enters a coverage area the device will send all the stored GPS coordinates as well as the current one performed upon re-entering. The on device data storage of the ST-1 makes it easy to analyze or report on any data even in less than perfect conditions.

Internal Protocol

Efficient and optimized for communication based on Cat M1/NB-IoT standards. A UDP based protocol is used requiring minimal data communication with the end device. This produces extremely low data utilization. The ST-1 is designed to offer an overal higher performance of relaiblity compared to the performance of an TCP/MQTT based system in poor network conditions. This is done by bypassing the multi-step TCP handshake as well as DNS in some cases. TCP and DNS can often fail in environments where cellular signal or bandwidth is limited. The device may need to send multiple TCP headers thereby multiplying bandwidth requirements where the device is already struggling. For example, in most configurations, a TCP header of one packet failing is larger than our UDP packet. Collectively, this adds up to significant battery savings due to less data communication with the network tower & Internet. We also use a small amount of HTPS/SSL for initial pairing of the device to establish, a fully encrypted connection in both directions, using an ASE key encryption between the backend database and device. This aids in ensuring the device is secure and can not be spoofed or easily compromised.
